Best Actress in a Motion Picture

Although born in New York, Catherine Oxenberg actually grew up in London. Her first Shakespearean acting coach was Richard Burton, who at the time was engaged to her mother, HRH Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia. Returning to the States to attend St. Paul’s School, she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was admitted to Harvard University then transferred to Columbia University..

Catherine’s acting career took off after she landed the role of Princess Diana in CBS’s Royal Romance of Charles and Diana. Aaron Spelling cast her in his ABC series Dynasty. Her career continued to flourish with a succession of starring roles in various miniseries and movies-of-the-week such as Still Crazy Like a Fox and Trenchcoat in Paradise.

Catherine’s feature film debut placed her opposite Hugh Grant Lair of the White Worm. She then starred in two miniseries—Bony and Ring of Scorpio for the BBC and Paramount after which she resurrected her role as Princess Diana in Charles and Diana: A Palace Divided, for which she received an Emmy nomination. Next, Catherine made Rubdown, Treacherous Beauties, and the syndicated television show Acapulco Heat. Later, Catherine starred in Boys Will Be Boys, and went on to make Arthur ‘s Quest, Time Served, The Collectors, Catch Me If You Can, and of course, The Omega Code which was the second highest grossing independent film for 1999. In 2000, Catherine starred in Sanctimony, The Flying Dutchman with Rod Steiger and Eric Roberts, and Perilous. In 2001 she starred in Miracle of the Cards and co-starred with her husband, Casper Van Dien in The Vector File filmed in New Zealand..


Catherine’s main charitable focus is on the The Princess Elizabeth Foundation which sends medical supplies to Yugoslavia and helps its orphaned children.
